About Drew Watkins Design

I am a full time freelance designer and student. I got involved in design work at age fourteen for a non-profit organization, the HALO Foundation, and I have a driving passion for making sure my projects are completed on time and with high quality.

My strengths are in XHTML/HTML and CSS. I also know some JS and jQuery. Currently, I am trying to build experience in PHP, and I’m also interested in Django.

My typical design process starts with planning. I need to find out you, the client, wants and what your competitors are doing. I can then move on to a sitemap, then wireframes. At that point, I complete the mockup in Photoshop. Once the design is approved, I begin front-end development. I create templates for every type of page layout, then plug the design into WordPress, or at the client’s request, a different CMS. Along every step of the design process, the client is kept involved through updates and feedback.

Outside of web design, I enjoy many activities and pasttimes, but I especially love sports. Currently, I race on the Junior Elite division of the USA Pista Elite cycling team. During the winter, I like to entertain myself through skiing, both cross-county, and downhill.

This year, I am trying to combine my love of sports with my skill in design through application development. I have plans to create a full line of fitness applications, from high school sports teams, to personal fitness, and even to personal trainers and endurance coaches. I hope to be able to bring the skills I learn back to my freelance clients, furthering my design skills.

So there, that was a little bit about me. Now it’s your turn, check out my portfolio, and if you are interested, please contact me about doing some design work.
